Invisalign
Until recently, people with uneven or crowded front teeth
only had two options in orthodontics—unsightly, expensive, metal braces, or
leaving their crooked smiles untouched. Both situations can be cause for much
embarrassment and self-consciousness in adolescents and adults. For adults, the
inconvenience and appearance of wearing metal braces can be far less appealing
than even for teenagers.
However, Invisalign®
can correct crooked teeth and uneven smiles in the most inconspicuous manner,
and without any harsh metal!
Invisalign® is a special form of orthodontics that uses the
technology of a 3-D generated-module. Once the simulation is complete, the
Invisalign® laboratory creates a series of clear trays (called aligners) for the
patient to wear. Patients change their aligners every two weeks until the trays
gradually straighten their teeth.
Invisalign® is designed to correct many problems including
crowded teeth, widely spaced teeth, crossbites, overbites, and underbites. Invisalign®
works in an incredibly simple and gentle manner. On your first visit to Dr.
Kederian, you will work with her to answer simple questions about your health
and your day-to-day lifestyle to determine if Invisalign® is right for you.
Then, Dr. Kederian will take impressions and pictures of your teeth. From these
impressions, a series of aligners are created—the first representing your
current smile and the last representing your desired smile. Patients upgrade to the next aligner every
two weeks, and gradually their teeth move into a perfectly straight and
beautiful smile!
And there you have it—no metal, no wires, no surgery, and no
embarrassing gadgets. While braces often take two or three years to effectively
straighten teeth, most patients who use Invisalign® achieve their dream smiles
in 12 to 18 months.
With Invisalign® your teeth are gradually straightened, but
all the while no one can tell you are wearing the clear aligners. You can talk,
smile, and laugh all while wearing the aligners, but still have the freedom to
remove them easily when you eat, brush, and floss your teeth.
